Planning a wedding in 2026 comes with more opinions than ever.
Open social media for five minutes and you’ll probably hear someone telling you to skip the flowers, wear any dress you can find, book the cheapest venue possible or avoid having a wedding altogether.
And whilst there’s absolutely nothing wrong with choosing a smaller celebration if that’s what feels right for you, there’s something we’d love to say to the couples quietly wondering if they’re “allowed” to want more.
If celebrating your marriage with the people you love matters to you, it is worth it.
A wedding isn’t valuable because it’s expensive. It’s valuable because of what it creates.
It’s your grandparents seeing you get married.Your best friends finally all in one place. The moment your partner sees you for the first time.Your dad’s speech.Your niece stealing the dance floor. The hugs, the tears, the laughter and the photos you’ll look back on for decades.
Those moments can’t be recreated.
Everyone has an opinion on weddings. You’ll hear:“It’s only one day.” But the reality is…It’s the day your families become one. The day your favourite people are all together in one room.
For many couples, it may be the only time everyone they love gathers in the same place. That’s something incredibly special.
There’s another trend we’re seeing lately. “Nobody notices the flowers.” “No one remembers the table styling.” “You don’t need beautiful stationery.”
And yes, your guests probably won’t remember every individual detail.
But they’ll remember how your wedding made them feel.
The atmosphere. The warmth. The candlelight. The music. The incredible meal. The room that made everyone stop and say “wow.”
It’s never about one thing. It’s about hundreds of thoughtful choices coming together to create an experience.
Investing in your wedding doesn’t mean following trends. It doesn’t mean spending money for the sake of it. It means creating a day that feels unmistakably yours.
Maybe that’s colourful flowers. Maybe it’s incredible food. Maybe it’s live music until midnight. Maybe it’s a relaxed outdoor ceremony followed by pizza and cocktails.
There isn’t a right way to celebrate your marriage. Only your way.
Every couple has a budget. Some are intimate, some are lavish. Most sit somewhere in between.Whatever yours looks like, we’d always encourage you to spend intentionally rather than apologetically.
Choose the things you’ll remember. The things that make you smile. The things that reflect who you are. Because years from now, you won’t remember whether somebody on the internet thought it was “worth it.”
You’ll remember how it felt.
Every wedding we host looks different.
Some couples fill the courtyard with live music and cocktails. Others choose candlelit dinners and quiet evenings under the festoon lights. Some keep things beautifully simple. Others embrace every personal touch imaginable.
What they all have in common is this- They chose to celebrate their marriage in a way that felt true to them.
And we think that’s always worth it.
If you’re looking for a wedding venue that gives you the freedom to celebrate your day your way, we’d love to show you around Blackbrook Barns.
